I arrive at the beginning of September 2021.
I live in the city of A Coruna, in the region of Galicia. It is located in the North Ouest of Spain.
Before I arrived, I find an apartment online. I was very luck because mine is spacious and modern.
When I arrive, I came with a really big suitcase and a small one. I had to take a taxi to go to my apartment.
The owner of the apartment was there to welcome me. She was really nice. I felt really reassured. She showed me everything. She even showed me around the neighborhood.
I live on the out skirts of the town. My university is not far from my apartment. It is a bit annoying when I want to go out, see friend or go in town because I have to take the bus or taxi. But the place I live in is the transition between the city and the rural. I love walking to my university because I walk in the nature, around gardens. Besides I also live on a hill. This town is full of hills. So, I have an amazing view on my way to the university.
That view just makes me happy every day.
The city of A Coruna is really a fun city to live in as a student. There is not much going on there. But it is very safe. The city center is really beautiful and the restaurants, bars, shops are really nice.
There are a few museums and monuments. The best things to see there, are the nice port, the beautiful old center, and the streets. And there is the beach that is really nice to walk around.
When I ever went in the center, I usually went to get something to eat. But unfortunately, I am used to eat between 12:00 and 1:00 in France. Here in Spain, it starts at 13:00 till 15:00. So, I always went to Burger King, one of the only fast food open because it opens at 12:30.
In the evening, it is the same problem. I usually eat between 18:00 and 20:00. But in Spain they only start eating at 20:30 till 23:00.
So, in the evening you have to organize yourself, so you don’t starve.
And one of the best things to do in town is to go to the mall! It is so aesthetically pleasing, and it is huge! I just love going there to get something to eat and study. Or I love walking around the different stores, they are all so cool.
During this first semester I had 4 amazing friends that I shared my experience with.
I had my friend from Egypt. She was so fun and interesting. Her culture was so different and yet our love for TikTok and kpop made us have so many references in common. She is so sweat and so pretty.
I had my German friend. She is so cute and generous.
I had my friend for Republic Czech. She is the smart one and very mature but she is very nice and fun to be arround.
And finally, my friend from Peru. She is usually very busy, so I don’t see her a lot. But she the most generous person I have ever met. She is really nice and funny; and if you have any problem, she will do anything she can to help you. Besides, her Peruvian roots makes her really fun to go to the club with. She dances to the reggaeton with so much energy, which I love!
I think that friendships that we make in that kind of situations because everyone is just like you. We all help each other. There is a good ambiance. And you discover so many different cultures.
My friendship with the girls was really fun. We would see each other every weekend to do something and catch up.
It was the perfect occasion to travel together. We went to Vigo, Santiago de Compostela, Barcelona, … But that is a story for another time.
Unfortunately, they all left. Our friendship was so unique and special that I have all invited them to come to France this Summer! We will stay at my house and everyday discover a town.
For this semester I am not alone. I have a few friends. But especially I have one friend from Germany. She is really nice. We gossip a lot in class which is really funny.
I can tell you more next time more about my second semester.
See you next time…
Makes me want to go there...
Time to plan my next trip !
